The Great Barrier Reef
This gem located in Queensland, Australia took over twenty-five million years to be formed. Its stunning coral reef, marine life and clear blue waters is enough to take your breath away. The reef is roughly the size of Japan or Germany (approximately 344,000 square kilometres) and is listed as one of the original 8 wonders of the world.
According to Wikipedia, the Great Barrier Reef is ‘the world’s largest coral reef system composed of over 2,900 individual reefs’. It houses over 400 hundred types of coral and over 1,000 species of tropical fish.
